Through My Window  (All stages)
Students describe what they see through the window of their classroom and the description is e-mailed to the project’s co-ordinator who posts it on the web. Students from other schools can then access and interpret the description to create a visual interpretation which is then sent to the authoring school. This activity helps students  develop observation skills and encourages the use of precise and descriptive language. No cost.

Murder Under the Microscope - Competition (Stage 3)
Students help solve an Eco-Crime.

Backyard Biodiversity (Stage 3)
Students participate in a study to find out more about the diversity of invertebrates in their area. No cost

Astronomy for Primary Schools (Stages 1-3)
The Charles Sturt University Remote Telescope can be controlled by students and their teachers over the internet.

EnergySmart Zone - Competition (Stage 3)
An on-line learning resource supported by an integrated, co-operative learning unit of work. It provides opportunities for students to work towards achieving outcomes in HSIE, Science and Technology and English with Environmental Education as the main focus. The unit explores the use of energy locally and globally.

Yibble’s WebQuest (Stage 3)
Yibble’s WebQuest teaches Stage 3 students about the relationship between producers and consumers. It is an on-line learning game with activities that teach students about the process Australian products undergo from the farm to the supermarket shelves. Students are even provided with the opportunity to post messages to farmers around NSW! Yibble’s Webquest supports the syllabuses of Science and Technology (Products and Services, Living Things) and HSIE (Global Connections).

National Kilowatt Count (Stages 2, 3)
A national project for Science Week which involves households around Australia assessing their everyday energy consumption and making simple lifestyle modifications to reduce their use of energy. A curriculum-based school kit is also available.

Intel Young Scientist - Competition (All Stages)
Students complete a scientific investigation and present findings as a Multimedia Presentation, a Creative Writing, a Working Model or a Scientific Research Report.

Streamwatch (All Stages)
A school and community water quality monitoring and action program.
Also available is the integrated unit of work Streams Alive (Stage 3) consisting of 10 easy-to-follow lessons including a sampling day which involves a bug survey. An Education Officer from Sydney Water will come to the school to help run the bug survey at no cost.

Results are gathered across NSW and published so that the whole community can get an idea of the health of our waterways. Surveys are held each Spring (October) and Autumn (March).

BHP Billiton Science Awards
The BHP Billiton Science Awards recognise outstanding contributions made by classroom teachers to science education and give students opportunity to design and conduct science research projects.

The Jason Project (Stage 3)
The Jason Project is a theme-based, international, collaborative science project. The project is web based and supported by comprehensive written curriculum covering all curriculum areas.

Dung Beetle Mania  (All Stages)
